The Griot Drum Ensemble honors the tradition of the great & magnificent griot. A griot holds an honored social position in past, as well as contemporary, West African culture. The griot, also known as Jali, and by other names, is a master storyteller & musician. The Griot Drum Ensemble assists in preserving & perpetuating the griot tradition by performing traditional African Diaspora high-energy music & storytelling. An interactive performance may also include sharing knowledge of the related culture and instruments with the listeners.

The Griot Drum Ensemble has a splendid group of performers who play djembe, conga, Ashiko, dnun, balaphon, flute and an array of other percussion instruments.
